Who are we?

Some nature lovers who, after many years taking care of tourists in Tenerife island, did chose to settle in the green hills of French Gascony. Our goal was to develop a kind of sustainable dream, combining holidays accommodation, self-sufficient lifestyle, traditionnal farming and ecotourism .

The Domaine de Lasmouleres covers nearly 60 ha of farmland, pastures and woods. The land is well clustered around the cottages, along the Gers river, on the Path of St Jacques de Compostella, in the centre of Southwestern France.

The transformation work of Lasmouleres began by planting over two thousand trees and shrubs in hedges and orchards, in December 2011 and December 2012. These fruit trees and other useful species will provide us with harvesting activities, and excellent jams for the tourists, who wish to take home a holiday souvenir to savor. They provide as well a necessary shade in the summer, a windbreak during winter, beautiful flowers and perfumes at spring, and nesting for an abundant wildlife throughout the year.

Life abounds in this part of Gascony, with a very low population density. It is not unusual to spot many species of the typical wildlife for this part of France, from the birds of prey in the air, to the deers in the pastures.

The pond, home to frogs, fish and herons, is supplied with spring water. A natural swimming pool was dug downstream to refresh our clientele during the summer.

A couple of owls found residence in the attic.

At the western end of the property, a grove of oak and ash trees gives us the renewable energy necessary for the comfort of our visitors.

South-east we find the river Gers, fed all year round thanks to the snows of the Pyrenees mountains.

A part of the land is cultivated with cereals, and you will find in the pastures the "Blonde d'Aquitaine “ cows, so named because of the color of their dress.

The land near the cottage is preserved for agro-tourism or ecotourism. Various productions are made on site, eg gardening, poultry, orchards, vineyard, goats, and sheep. Small workshops produce cheeses, jams, honey and drinks at a family level, and allow a tourist use of these local products.

A large Gallo-Roman villa, with baths (which proves a certain wealth of the former Roman owners) was on the property, which was already a land of abundance in old times. The only remains of the villa are the foundations, and numerous fragments of pottery in the fields and in our "mini museum".

The habitat is dispersed in the Gers, the first neighbors are 400 meters to the west or east. Saint-Mézard town hall and church are 5 km away, the police station (French Gendarmerie) and shopping centre in Astaffort at 6 Km.
