Agrotourisme or eco-tourisme?
A neighboring farmer operates most of the land, shared between cereals and pasture for “Blondes d’Aquitaine” cows.We offer a number of basic agricultural activities, in a semi self-sufficient goal, to be able to meet most of our daily needs.
These activities are also developed for the tourist, the casual visitor may participate in the following activities and receive his share of the yields:
- harvesting fruit (plums, figs, hazelnuts, cherries, apples, pears, almonds, grapes, cherries, medlars, coins, apricots, peaches, walnuts, persimmon, nashi), berries (blackberries, strawberries, gooseberries, blackcurrants, raspberries , prunelles, alises, male dogwood berries, saskatoon berries, rosehips, hawthorn, juniper, cormiers) and vegetables, is an important source of activity for tourists hosted in our country cottage. Indeed, we planted more than two thousand trees and shrubs, fruit and berries, much more than birds and a family can consume within a year. From May to December, it is possible to pick mature fruits and berries, these are incomparable with those found in commerce. Our farming technics are environment friendly, treatments will be limited as much as possible and our customers will get informed in that case. Fruits, berries and vegetables are part of the accommodation rental agreement, the surplus will be frozen or bottled. Traditional jams, made in a large copper pot, are made, to help you remember your holidays in South West France.
- The maintenance of hives, protection against predators of bees and collecting of honey and wax, will be made with our customers safely. Our guests can eat them on site and bring back home these natural products.
- A large barn includes a large number of poultry to be fed and maintained on a daily basis. During the summer all birds have a daily access to a nearby meadow, to improve their diet. Laying hens guarantee every passing tourist's with omega 3 rich daily eggs, ducks, pheasants, guinea fowl and geese give a variety to our house and contribute significantly to the reputation of gourmet cuisine in this part of France.
These farm holidays will be very much a discovery of traditional farming, a cure to the stress of city life, and the possible discovery of a new lifestyle less dependent on economic shocks and rarefaction of raw materials.
